The Truth Behind Gas Prices

Within the past month or two, gas prices have skyrocketed almost $1 above the previous $3 price. There are many controversial opinions as to why these prices have risen. Many people like to state the obvious, that it’s supply and demand. But it’s clear that the shutdown pipeline that was harming our environment, is the issue for our prices.

An intellect of the GOP states, “Your vitriolic language and vilification of the American fossil fuel industries while holding out your hand to the despotic foreign leaders whose interests directly conflict with American values has undoubtedly depressed American development both on- and off-shore.”

Now, if you couldn’t understand that, it’s okay because neither could I. People just don’t understand how the prices of our gas are inherently more important than the environment we live in. How am I supposed to set aside money for gas when I can spend that money on Starbucks and Target every day? Though we’re aware that the Keystone pipeline isn’t the only reason for the rising prices. It is known that the real perpetrator behind these global prices is the President of the United States.

Gas prices have been rising globally for quite some time now, they have even hit around $8 a gallon in some European countries. $8 per gallon might make US citizens look foolish for complaining about their $4 per gallon. But we all know that the reason Europe’s prices are higher is that they have more public transportation which increases their demand.

“He made it about himself, he made it about excuses, and unlike $4.00 a gallon gas, the American people are not buying it,” said a Fox News article. He has done nothing to decrease our gas prices, except the oil reserves. He also cut off our oil supply from Russia, for obvious reasons.

As Senator John Kennedy once said, “My car does not run off of fairy dust, my car does not run off of unicorn urine.”
