Have you made a bad cancer joke this year and want to make up for it? If so, then we’ve got just the thing for you! While spreading awareness for this disease, you can hangout with your friends all day. We all know you’d rather do that anyways. Relay for Life is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. It’s an opportunity for you to walk and socialize with your friends while advocating for a good cause.
On May 21st we will be holding our own Relay for Life event. Now you may be wondering, how are we going to raise money while hanging out with our friends? The answer is simple, by using those two things attached to your lower body, can you guess what they are? If you guessed legs then congratulations, you know the bare minimum of human anatomy! Create your own team of friends, coworkers, family members, or whoever you’d like and take turns walking the track in order to raise awareness and money for cancer patients, survivors, caretakers, and everyone in between. There is also a dedicated section on the website where you can send donations in.
When you are not walking the track you will be able to participate in games, eat food, rest, and do other activities. But certainly don’t use this as an opportunity to make the rest of your team do all of the physical activity, that would be lazy and very insensitive to those in which you are supposed to be bringing awareness to. This is one of the biggest community fundraising events that we as a city have held since Covid began. Though remember, Covid still exists despite what Fox News might tell you, so don’t be ignorant.
