Why doesn’t the school still offer child care for the teens at school with babies?
Many parents thought that the high school and district were, by association of having a day-care, promoting teen pregnancy and sex. This decision was in 2009, so there may be a change in public opinion. However, whether we have the staffing, room, or funding for such a program is questionable.

How you doin’?
Me? How thoughtful! It has been eons since someone has actually asked how I’ve been! I’m tired. I have a test tomorrow, a project due, and work right after school. Let’s just say that I am not thriving, but I am living, laughing, and loving life at the moment!

Why did our school take away the ability to allow our (especially trans) students to change their name in their Google accounts?
Unless we are mistaken, students overall don’t have the ability to change their Google account names themselves. We suggest students wishing to do such schedule a meeting with an administrator or counselor who has the proper technological credentials to perform such a task.

Why does the homecoming DJ always suck?
It’s typically the same twenty-something or thirty-something year old person attempting to relate with teenagers through music, a feat nearly impossible. You can always suggest songs, but I guess the whole point of paying someone to DJ is actually having them be good. Maybe you should become a DJ and save us all from future assaults on our ears?

What is it like working to make The Increscent?
It is so easy and simple! Us editors are able to sit at a café, drinking our $7 lattes while we press buttons and arrange bodies of texts around in software programs. It is very quirky and gives Rory Gilmore vibes, so you should definitely come join The Increscent! In all actuality, though, it is quite the task no matter how simple it may seem.
Many of us are habitual procrastinators, so actually finishing an eight or twelve page news magazine is difficult in itself. It is also quite an enlightening experience, as the people you work with never fail to make the several hours spent after school interesting (to say the least).

Why is it so cold in here?
Depending on the room you are in, the thermostat might be adjusted to a temperature lower than that of your bodily temperature. Consider bringing adequate articles of clothing to prevent this feeling (if providing such discomfort). In our humble, scholarly opinions, however, the best climate to work and learn in is the cold. It is definitely better than the heat!

Hi?
Is this a serious question? Are we, The Increscent, Wisconsin’s oldest school newspaper merely a joke to you? This is a very serious journalistic publication, and the fact that your question lacks any insight, benefit, or value overall is astounding. You are a high school student, and your level of questioning should be beyond this.

Why is it so hard to move on from an ex, even though you know they were bad for you; even though they hurt you?
It’s mostly just an emotional connection, even if it is negative. It could be due to the fear you have of being alone, or your dependence on that person. Many of us don’t like change, even though we desperately need it and want to escape toxic relationships. From both personal and close friends’ experiences, I can tell you that blocking them out of your life is probably the best start to getting over them. Seeking therapy and support through friends and trained adults will likely prove beneficial to your situation as well. Just remember, no person should ever make you feel uncomfortable or subhuman.

How would I go about starting a new club for BMHS?
To start an official club at the high school, one would first have to find a member of staff who would agree to being an advisor to it. After this step, you’d have to propose your club concept to the School Board, if you wanted funding (your faculty advisor might want to be compensated for their time). Once approved, you have a club!

Can I start a petition for better school lunches?
Are you able to? Absolutely! In fact, it is one of the privileges you enjoy in the First Amendment of the Constitution! However, your petition is likely to lack fruition, as Aramark provides our students with a free lunch at a reduced cost to the school district, meaning that we aren’t really in a position to bargain. There may be other solutions though! You can always enact change with a bit of dedication.
