Why can’t we have an open campus for lunch?
Many times when kids leave for lunch they choose not to come back for school, which is one of the reasons why open campus lunch is no longer an option. Another reason is that there have been multiple incidents resulting in injuries that have happened during open campus lunch. However, it seems that due to students simply disregarding these rules, administration has resorted to enforcing a policy where no food or drink from restaurants can be brought inside.

Which way do stairs lead?
That depends on which direction you’re headed. It could be up, down, left, or right.

What should I do after graduation?

In all seriousness, we can only recommend that you find some sort of job that’ll provide you with joy and stability for the rest of your days. Some jobs that are currently in demand and pay a generous sum tend to be in the STEM or medical fields. These include software developers, IT managers, physicians, or pharmacists.

Why are there more dress codes for girls than boys?
While reviewing the board policy dress code it seems as though there are three rules targeted more towards feminine clothing and only one towards masculine clothing. This is very unfair to people who wear more feminine clothing, but the dress code has always written in a sexist manner. A dress code that creates more rules for feminine people and sexualizes their bodies is inherently sexist. Here at BMHS, the dress code is not very enforced, but the fact that it is policy to police feminine clothing and bodies in order to avoid “distracting” boys is appalling. Choosing a masculine person’s complaints and engagement over a feminine person’s right to choose their clothing is never right.

Why can’t we have study halls, as in going to the cafeteria or annex without being asked?
We have Academic Labs which are technically “study halls” and we also have Knight’s Spot, but students have to meet a certain criteria to have that. Also, with issues of security lately, it’s hard to go anywhere in the school without a pass, and since there is no adult in charge of these spaces, there is no one to write a pass.

Why do hot dogs come in packs of 10 and hot dog buns come in packs of 8?
Because the buns are baked in clusters of four, in pans designed to hold eight rolls. Although, it might be a ploy to get you to buy more buns, and in turn, hot dogs. We, however, suggest that you don’t submit to this corporate scheme and use the 2 remaining glizzys in a creative manner.

Do you believe that everyone has a fair chance at getting an equal education? Why or why not?
In America especially, we do not have equal access to education. This is because the majority of a school’s budget is made from property taxes. Low-income areas will have less funds for schools because of this, consequently leading their schools to be underfunded (and vice-versa for schools in wealthy areas). Even within schools, people from higher socioeconomic statuses can obtain advantages in education through things like tutoring and access to educational resources.

What is a change you wish to see in Beloit within the next 10 years?
We would like to see less violence in Beloit in the next ten years. It’s heartbreaking to see what this city has gone through recently and the representation it has been getting.
