On May 24, the choir performed their last concert of the school year, which included amazing amounts of talented people.

The concert started off with the song “Surface Pressure” from “Encanto.” During the song, a lovely solo was performed by one Anahi Arroyo. The alto and soprano sections sang their parts clearly, and I was able to hear them each distinctly from where I was sitting.

“We Don’t Talk About Bruno” came next, which involved multiple soloists. One of the soloists, Zal, pulled off a wig, revealing a bald cap which shocked the audience as well as myself—it was really enjoyable.

Then there was a piece performed where Miguel Delgado danced and sang to the song “Never Wanna Give You Up.” The audience members roared with applause.

Next, the Concert Choir and Knights Choir performed “One Finger One Thumb,” “Iko Iko Dance,” and “Sweet Caroline.” The performance was amazing. Everyone seemed like they had fun and were full of energy. They also seemed to be enjoying themselves.

“The Pilgrim Song” was performed by Xavier Hawley and started off with piano music. The song was excellent. The audience was in awe, cheering and clapping during the song. A lot of people enjoyed the solo aside from me, but you can see that Xavier has amazing talents and is headed far.

The next song was “Light of a Clear Blue Morning,” which featured a solo and a trio. The soloist was Anna Olson and the trio included Kayle Olson, Krissy Landon, and Sofia Romero. There were some technical difficulties with one of the microphones for Anna. However, she kept on singing without a hitch and didn’t let anyone down. It was overall a great job from the soloist and trio.

“You Got a Friend In Me’’ was performed by James White and Daniel Althaus. Both of them played fantastic guitar. They had amazing talents and their emotions expressed the song very well. Also, when this song was done, several people had to hold back their tears from crying. Good job on moving the audience.

They performed a mash-up of Disney songs which involved all of the choirs, and each and every one of them were outstanding. I really enjoyed the mash up and overall their outfits were great. I enjoyed hearing the different choirs singing together. It was wonderful.

They ended with Mr. Anderson giving out academic awards to those who had done so much, and the senior slideshow which was made by Krissy Landon and Sofia Romero. Each senior received a carnation for their slide which included pictures of them. I thought it was pretty thoughtful and neat.

I do recommend going to a show in the future, for the time and effort they put into practicing and memorizing the songs can be seen in the final performance. The choir did a wonderful job on showing off the talents of all the soloists, duos, and trios.

To wrap this up, as most of you probably know, Mr. Anderson will be leaving BMHS. While we will be sad to see him leave, this is likely the best path for him, and for that we wish him safe travels and the absolute best in what comes next.
